A blog a long time in the writing (I really need to get these done much sooner). Last year UKTV raised money for COSMIC, a fantastic charity based at the children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital, London.
COSMIC enables a dedicated team to treat hundreds of critically ill children each year, whilst also supporting the patients’ families. A really great cause to be involved with.

Alongside the usual company bake sales etc, we also raised funds through three events: a triathlon if you will.
The UKTV Triathlon was completed in three stages, a 500km, three day cycle from London to Amsterdam (through France and Belgium), swimming lengths of the Olympic Pool at Stratford for eight hours reaching a total of 60km (total of the group, I might add) and walking 100km for 24 hours along the Thames path (the only leg I didn’t take part in – due to dog-sitting duties, I promise).
Luckily, a couple of us managed to remember to take a camera on the ride to Amsterdam and the swim at the Olympic Pool to capture the events in all (ok, some of) their glory. Check the short film out below:
A great achievement I’m sure you’ll agree (those people taking part in the events, not my editing, obviously). Next up? This year UKTV is attempting a “Four Elements” challenge, one of which incorporates fire. I’ll be skipping that event then. (I need to stop using brackets).
